Label layout

This portlet allows to design and edit layouts for labels printed via kiosk, tablet and Reception portlet. Each layout has an unique code that has to be entered on kiosk/tablet settings for use, allowing different kiosks in a building to print labels with different layouts if required.

To access the Label Layout portlet, go to Menu > Admin > Label Layout.

Label Layout portlet is presented with no selection by default, as in the following picture.

Add a new layout

1. On Label Layout portlet, click the Add button;

2. Add New Layout Type form will display. Fill out all required fields to enable Save button:

  • Name: an identifier for your layout (notice this is different from the layout code);
  • Dimension: select the paper size of the label - usually 'star' for kiosks;
  • Orientation: portrait or landscape - usually 'portrait' for kiosks;
  • Type: image (for kiosks) or PDF.

3. Optionally, you may inform:

  • Default: defines a layout as the default for kiosks when selected;
  • Description: describe briefly the layout composition.

Only one Default layout is allowed. If this checkbox is greyed out, there is probably some other layout defined as the default already. The existing default layout has to be edited (unchecking Default option) or deleted before another layout can be set as default.

4. Click Save to commit the inclusion.

5. The new layout will be now available for selection on Layout dropdown.

Edit/Add items to a layout

1.  Select the layout to which you want to add items on Layout dropdown;

2. Data about the layout will be retrieved; all fields except ID are editable.

3. To include a new item, click Add an item button;

4. On Add Layout Item form, select an Item Type:

  • textitem: prints the column value for Data Mapping selection;
  • qrcode: square code representation of Guest Reference for scanning;
  • barcode: lines code representation of Guest Reference for scanning;
  • photo: Visitor's photo taken during check-in (if configured on the kiosk);
  • statictextitem: when selecting this type, you need to inform the text to be printed on Value field;
  • background: image to be printed in the label background. If selected, a background image needs to be uploaded via File column of the Label Layout portlet;
  • meal_ind: if selected in conjunction with Data Mapping=meal_ind, it prints an indicator of the Guest meal option set on registration.

5. Then fill out the remaining required fields:

  • Font: Courier, Helvetica or Times can be used to print textitem and statictextitem;
  • Font Size: point size to be used when printing textitem and statictextitem;
  • Data Mapping: required when textitem type is selected, in order to indicate the data to be printed from database;
  • X-Coordinate: horizontal start position on label to print item;
  • Y-Coordinate: vertical start position on label to print item;
  • Value: required when statictextitem type is selected to set the text to be printed.

6. Click Save to commit the inclusion.

7. The new item is presented on the grid. It is possible to edit or remove items through the icons on Action column.

Clone label layout

1. Select the layout to be cloned on Layout dropdown;

2. Click Clone;

3. Clone New Layout Type form is presented. Type in a Name and click Save.

4. The clone layout will be now available for selection on Layout dropdown; not only the layout set but all associate items are included in the copy.

Delete label layout

1. Select the layout to be deleted on Layout dropdown;

2. Click Delete;

3. A confirmation dialog shows; click Yes to proceed.

Once a label layout is deleted, the code (ID) needs to be replaced/removed if being used in any kiosks or tablets.
